MISS WORLD PHILIPPINES 2016 is Catriona Elisa Gray
Miss
World Philippines is the national franchise of the Miss World pageant in the
Philippines and selects the country's representative to the said pageant. CQ
Global Quest Inc., managed by Cory Quirino, acquired the franchise on January
25, 2011. Prior to Miss World Philippines, the title was awarded through the
Miss Republic of the Philippines pageant from 1966 to 1976, then by Mutya ng
Pilipinas Organization through Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant from 1977 to 1991,
and by Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. through the Binibining Pilipinas
pageant from 1992 to 2010. The pageant
is inspired by the Miss World Ltd.'s slogan "Beauty with a Purpose".
October 2,
was the Finals night of "Miss World Philippines 2016" held in the
Manila Hotel, Manila Philippines. This was the 6th edition of the beauty
pageant and the winner was Filipina-Australian 5' 10"(1.78 M) tall
Catriona Elisa Magnayon Gray. Filipina-Australian Catriona Gray will be
representing the Philippines in the Miss World 2016 pageant in Washington D.C.,
U.S.A in December 18th. The 22 year-old Catriona was born in
Australia to an Australian father and Filipina mother and has a Master
Certificate in Music Theory from the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Aside from
bagging the Miss World title, Catriona also swept several special awards on
coronation night held at the Manila Hotel. She was named Best in Evening Gown,
Best in Swimsuit, Best in Fashion Runway and Best in Talent. Several sponsors
also chose Catriona to be their brand ambassador as she was named Miss Figlia,
Miss FIG-Image Gateway, Miss Folded & Hung, Miss Hannah, Miss Manila Hotel
and Miss Organique.
The new
"Miss World Philippines" Catriona Gray will now prepare to go
represent her nation in the "Miss World 2016" Finals, to be held in
Washington D.C. on December 18th and compete with almost 100 other contestants
from all over the world.
